ODESA, JANUARY, 22nd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Yesterday, 21 January, 2009 opening of a new sports club for disabled people Odesa-Basket took place in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Information Department at Odesa City Council informed the agency about it today, 22 January, 2009.

They accentuate in the Department, the new building where the gym is located was provided by a decree of Odesa Mayor. The rent fee is insignificant and makes only one Hryvnya per year. Tatiana Fidirko, Charitable Fund of Boris Litvak ‘Future’ and Krayan Sports Club aid the club.

Head of the Club, Oleg Prokhorov remarked the Club has officially existed since 2001, though the trainings began in 1998. Odesa City Council provides principal aid to the organization and Deputy Commission headed by Sergey Chernenko – Deputy at Odesa City Council in particular.

The Department also informed, the team of invalids Odesa-Basket had recently won the second cup at an International competition in Romania. In addition, the sportsmen took bronze in the Ukrainian Cup.

But Mr. Prokhorov believes the main thing is “not their victories but their feeling they are ordinary people of the country, the society needs them”. He thanked everybody who had helped in creation of the club.
