Yugcement’s furnaces to run on coal instead of gas soon

MYKOLAIV, FEBRUARY, 23rd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – The furnaces at cement plant Yugcement, based in Olshanske, Mykolaivskiy Raion, Mykolaiv Oblast. Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The enterprise informed the agency about it today, 23 February.

This approach provides energy diversification and independence.

This requires installation of coal mills and terminals, but there are certain difficulties in buying land for their installation.

Previously Dyckerhoff AG Group (Germany) owning Ukrainian Cement plants OJSC Yugcement and Volyn-Cement (Rivne Oblast, Zdolbuniv) informed they were going to put their furnaces running on coal instead of natural gas, putting 60 million EURO investments into it. They also reported they were planning to set of their plants to “dry” production of cement, investing 200 million EURO into this project.

INFROMATION: OJSC Yugcement (formerly Cement Plant of Olshanske) is the largest cement-producing enterprise in the south of Ukraine having designed capacity about 1,25 million tons annually. The enterprise is a part of Dyckerhoff AG Group (Germany).

OJSC Yugcement has two affiliates in Odesa and Sevastopol. These are cement terminals operating and packing the ready-made production.
