Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port: 23,2 percent cuts of the cargo operations in the second quarter

MYKOLAIV, JULY, 17th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – In the second quarter of 2009 Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port operated 2 million 98 thousand tons of cargoes, decreasing the amount of cargo operations by 23,2 percent or by 633 thousand tons as compared with the same period last year, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today, 176 July, at the press-service of the port.

The port informs the reduction of the cargo operations happened due to the stops of supplies of Belorussian potash fertilizers. The largest specific gravity in the port’s transshipments have pellets, grain and iron-ore concentrate.

INFORMATION: Mykolaiv Merchant Sea Port was founded in 1862. The company specializes in transshipment of export and transit cargoes. The territory of the port occupies 94 hectares. General extent of the moorings makes 2 thousand 920 m, length of the railroad tracks — about 25 km. Mechanization structure includes 133 machinery units. The port employs about 2 thousand 700 people.
