ODESA, SEPTEMBER, 9th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Director of Odesa International Airport Svetlana Pustylnikova stated the personnel of the company was indignant at the Wizz Air Ukraine’s unfair statement and the actions of the TV companies having spread the information and demanded public refutation, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mrs. Pustylnikova declared it giving an interview to our correspondent.

“Mrs. Kazner’s blames are absolutely groundless, so the airport’s managing board demands refutation”, — she stated.

According to the airport’s director, in compliance with the ICAO requirements, the technical parameters of the artificial runway of Odesa Airport are within the norm. The airport systematically undergoes inspections for meeting the requirements. At present the airport has ICAO Certificate Category I.

As Context-Prichernomorie reported before, Member of Board of Directors of Wizz Air Ukraine Natalia Kazmer had stated the surfacing of the runway of Odesa Airport did not meet any requirements to the extant the company had had to change the undercarriage of their planes almost once a week.

As a number of media reported, Mrs. Kazmer had made this statement in Kyiv during a press-conference.

According to the sources, Mrs. Kazmer stated, only the previous year the airlines had refused such routes as Kyiv-Lviv, Kyiv-Kharkiv, Kyiv-Odesa, Kyiv-Zaporizhia, Simferopol-Kharkiv, since the company cannot afford working with big losses.

“But there’s another problem – this is technical state of the airports. For instance in Odesa the surfacing of the runway of Odesa Airport does not meet any requirements to the extant we had to change the undercarriage of our planes almost once a week”, — she said.

“Last year we flew to Odesa, this year we have refused it”, — Mrs. Kazmer stressed.
