ODESA, OCTOBER, 5th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The cargo turnover of GE Commercial Sea Port of Odesa has gone 18.6 percent down in September, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.
The agency was informed about it today 5 October at the press-service of the port.
According to their press-service, in September 2009 the cargo turnover made 2 million 122 thousand 600 tonnes. Through the period of January-September the amount of cargo transshipments in Odesa Port made 20 million 550 thousand 700 tonnes that is 5 million 740 thousand 100 tonnes or 21.8 percent less than during the same period in 2008.
The transshipment of containers in September 2009 made 26 thousand 858 TEU, that is 50.4 percent less than last year.
Through the period of January-September 2009 the container turnover made 184 thousand 431 TEU, i.e. 40.02 percent less than for the same period in 2008.
INFORMATION: GE Commercial Sea Port of Odesa is situated in the south-western part of Odesa bay on artificially made territory of 109.5 hectares area. The enterprise’s facilities allow processing more than 14 million tons of dry and 24 million tons of bulk cargo annually. The vessels of the length up to 270 metres and the draught under 13 metres are operated in the port. The total length of the berthage is more than 8 kilometres.
