KHERSON, OCTOBER, 13th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORRIE – The Azerbaijani state oil company Socar intends to purchase the controlling interest in the Kherson Oil Refinery, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Delo Newspaper reports about it today, 13 October.

According to the source, Rovang Abdulayev, head of the Azerbaijani oil refinery reported about their interest in purchasing the Kherson oil refinery during the opening of their representative office in Kyiv. “Our experts are in the process of negotiations with the current owners of the company”, he said. He said it was bout their purchasing the controlling interest in the Kherson Oil Refinery.

He added the company was ready to invest in the upgrade of the plant in Kherson. The company needs much investment, however the plant’s location gives many opportunities in implementing the project. The representatives of the Azerbaijani company stressed before they were interested in the refinery capacities located near the sea.
