ODESA, OCTOBEER, 20th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – A suggestion of including the ports of Reni and Izmail into the common European grain transportation system will be sent to the EU, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.
According to the reports of the press-service of Agrarian Chamber of Ukraine (ACU), their president Dmitriy Berezvsky initiated at the meeting of the Vyšehrad Four (Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic) and Ukraine in Slovakia 7-8 October 2009.
“Ukraine suggested including the ports of Reni and Izmail into the common European grain transportation system. The possible grain turnover through these two ports is expected to amount to 1 million tonnes every marketing year”, Mr. Berezovsky explained.
“This will let the EU make the cost of transportation lower”, he added.
According to him, this suggestion has been considered and will be directed to the EU. “It is important the same suggestion should be sent from Ukrainian government. If the Cabinet of Minister, the ACU and the Agrarian Chambers of the Vyšehrad Four are acting in unison, the probability of this will be great”, Mr. Berezovky said.
