ODESA, OCTOBER, 19th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – In early October an absolute daily navigation record was set at the Bystroye Channel, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today 19 October at the press-service of the state-owned enterprise Delta-Pilot.

According to the information provided, through the time period of 9:00 2 October – 9:00 3 October 11 ships navigated through the Bystroye Channel. This was an absolute record during the channel’s history.

They also added in the company in October 2009 the navigation through the Bystroye Channel has been as intensive as in other months.71 vessels passed along the channel since the beginning of October. The average daily amount of vessels going through the channel counts 4-7.

“The Ukrainian channel has proved its efficiency during the time pf its existence. And the amounts of navigations are the best proof of that”, Aleksander Golodnitskiy, Director of GE Delta-Pilot said.

INFORMATION: Delta-pilot state-owned enterprise was created according to the order of the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine dated 04.02.1998 No.29 aimed at improvement of conditions of navigation safety, safety of human life at sea and environmental protection in the territorial waters of Ukraine in compliance with the requirements of the international agreements and conventions, ordering of the maritime pilotage service structure in the north west area of the Black sea. To fulfill the state assignments of the SE «Delta — pilot» work on marine pilotage has been optimized within a short period of time, two regional systems of vessel traffic service have been introduced, appropriate maintenance and technical modernization of the sea routes for general usage have been arranged.
