Yuzhny Port accepts the largest vessel in Ukraine’s history

ODESA, NOVEMBER, 2nd, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – GE Commercial Sea Port of Yuzhny has accepted the largest vessel in the maritime history of Ukraine, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today 2 November at the press-service of the port.

According to their report, on Saturday 30 October the coal terminal of Transinvestservice accepted the largest vessel in the maritime history of Ukraine. It was M/V Kassos Warrior 299.6 m long, 47 m wide, 18 m draft, deadweight 195 thousand tonnes.

“Ships of that capacity have never visited the ports of Ukraine before”, the reported at the press-service of TIS.

The company will load 140 thousand tonnes of iron-ore concentrate until it sinks to the level of 14.2 m, then she will get loaded full in the outer harbour of the port of Kerch.

INFORMATION: The Commercial Sea Port of Yuzhny is situated in the North-West area of the Black Sea, on the ice-free Adzhalykskiy Liman and is a cargo operation turnover leader (20 million 698 thousand 600 tons in 2005). Main transportation directions: the Black Sea and the Mediterranean basins, the USA, Latin America, Middle East, South-Eastern Asia. All cargo, storage and auxiliary operations are carried out in the port. There work specialized complexes in the port for operation of mineral fertilizers, liquid chemicals, export overload berths for general and bulk cargoes.
