ODESA, NOVEMBER, 20th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – The Ministry of Transport and Communications of Ukraine adopted the Development Programme of Commercial Sea Port of Odesa until 2015, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today 20 November at the press-service of Odesa Commercial Sea Port.

According to their press-service, the main points of realization of the programme are the involvement of foreign investments in order to develop the company’s production facilities, creation of competitive conditions for handling modern heavy-weight cargo vessels, developing cruise-tourism, the increase of the guaranteed level of sea-safety and ecological safety of the port, applying power-saving technologies.

The port’s capacity, in compliance with the programme, is to be increased to 62 million 50 thousand tonnes.

The main part of the programme presents the feasibility analyses of 11 projects for the ports capacity development that are planned for the near future, as well as 4 projects to improve the ecological situation in the port and other.

INFORMATION: GE Commercial Sea Port of Odesa is situated in the south-western part of Odesa bay on artificially made territory of 109.5 hectares area. The enterprise’s facilities allow processing more than 14 million tons of dry and 24 million tons of bulk cargo annually. The vessels of the length up to 270 metres and the draught under 13 metres are operated in the port. The total length of the berthage is more than 8 kilometres.
