ODESA, NOVEMBER, 24th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Delta-Pilot has purchased laser range finders for their pilots, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today 24 November at the press-service of the company.

According to the press-service, the gears are binoculars with expanded options allowing the pilots to calculate the distance to an object quickly and accurately. Laser range finders pilot the vessels, which is really important for the port of Odesa with its difficult water area configuration and wavy berth lines.

According to one of the pilots of the company, Alaxai Bozhenko, “the gets laser range finders help while mooring a vessel I the berths next to it are occupied. Odesa port has been accepting many large vessels lately. For a successful mooring the navigator is to accurately calculate the distance between vessels and free space at the berth.”
