MYKOLAIV, DECEMBER, 28th, 2009, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – A fencer of Mykolaiv Olga Kharlan was named the best sportsman of the year, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about it today at the press-service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

According to them, the brightest sportsman of 2009 was Olga Kharlan. The highest rewards of the European Fencing Championship won by her both individually and in the ‘gold team of four’ (together with Olena Khomrova, Galyna Pundik, and Olga Zhovnir) allowed the leader of Ukrainian sabre fencers to become the best sportsmen of July, in the National Olympic Committee’s opinion. Later in October Olga became the Gold World Champion in team competition and the Silver Champion in individual competition.

Her personal coach Artem Skorokhod was named the Best Coach of the year.
