MYKOLAIV, OCTOBER 18th, 2010, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Mykolaiv Regional Council is to consider privatisation of Mykolaiv International Airport at its last session which will take place 22 October, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Head of the faction of the Party of Regions in Mykolaiv Oblast Igor Dyatlov announced it today, 18 October, on one of the local TV channels.

“Today we are discussing the way how to prevent privatisation of the airport, as since Viktor Yanukovich became the President of Ukraine and Nikolay Kruglove became the Governor of the Oblast, we held a number of interesting meetings with investors. And today we can say that both the flow of passengers and cargoes will be increasing not by times but by tens of times. That is why the company will not only be demanded, it will be profitable as well. The personnel will at last forget what is mounting wage arrears”, Mr Dyatlov said.

“The airport used to be a spot of shame”, Mr Dyatlov said. “Previous regional authorities for some reason did not want to solve the airport’s problems. At one second they wanted the airport to be privatised, a second later they did not. At the same time the operation of the enterprise was blocked — it did not work at all. Meanwhile people were not getting their wages”, the politician added.
