Hyundai China lays a vessel designed in Odesa

ODESA, JANUARY 4th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Hyundai China has laid a vessel designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 4 January, at the press service of the company.

According to their information, the new project has primarily been designed to be a sea vessel for unlimited navigation zone having the necessary parameters.

The vessels under DCV36 Project are designed to carry general and bulk cargoes, including 20 and 40-feet containers of the international standard, up to 9.5 metres high (some of them can be ref-containers), metal, grain, wood, coal, large and heavy cargoes, dangerous class cargoes.

Her high ice category Ice 3 allows the vessel to operate on the Baltic and White seas in winter time.

The ship is 89.96 m long, 14.5 m wide, her depth is 7.5 m, deadweight 5280 tons. Endurance at sea 25 days.

Korean Hyundai has already built ten DCV36 ships in China. At that the shipyard is planning to deliver all vessels of the series before the end of 2011.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
