ODESA, JANUARY 22nd, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Odesa Oblast organization Svoboda (Freedom) is calling the world community to protect Mel Gibson, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Yesterday, 21 January, the Organization distributed the text of their official statement, which is available at the agency’s disposal.

The Statement in particular reads: “American Themis is trying to convict a prominent film director, actor and public figure Mel Gibson. His ex-wife Oksana Grigorieva’s shady enterprise was the reason of the reprisal. Mel Gibson is known in many countries as the author of the following films: Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto, which were recognized to be world cinematography masterpieces. Mel Gibson is a protector of traditional values, he is a person having a principal stand in life. He criticized the war in Iraq, he is against research on stem cells and euthanasia. Addressing the ideologist of modern liberalism — people advocating policy of double standards, Mel Gibson said: ‘Why crying about the Holocaust you don’t say a thing about the Holodomor — genocide of Ukrainians in the Soviet Union?’ In his public speeches, the prominent American was erotising homosexual relations and other sexual perversions, therefore was he chased by the ‘free press’. It was exactly for his conservative views, the ‘liberal’ US regime has been trying to imprison him using a woman for this — as a weapon of certain reactionary circles. Odesa Regional Organization Svoboda forwards its resolute protest against the pursuit of Mel Gibson. The accusation put forward by the state of Los Angeles is absurd beneath criticism. We demand pressure on this prominent person should be stopped and we are calling the world community to protect him. There is no fair justice in liberal world, there is only a distorting mirror, where you can only see hatred of genuine culture whose face Mel Gibson is.”
