Shipyard Pregol, Kalinigrad, finishes upgrade of M/V Vasiliy Shukshin

ODESA, JANUARY 22nd, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Open Joint Stock Company Shipyard Pregol, Kalinigrad, Russia, has finished upgrade of M/V Vasiliy Shukshin under the project developed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 22 January, at the press office of Marine Engineering Bureau.

According to their information, the dry cargo vessel Vasiliy Shukshin will go on her first after the upgrade trip.

The upgrade was carried out in order to increase the vessel’s capacity.

At present the ship has the following parameters: deadweight at sea has been increased from 2 thousand 750 tons to 3 thousand 352 tons, the capacity of the cargo holds — from 3 thousand 330 cubic metres to 4 thousand 31 cubic metres.

After the upgrade the ship is a one-deck dry-cargo motor vessel with two cargo holds, double bottom and double boards of the accommodation superstructure.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
