Another ship with 5.5 m draft navigates through the Bystroye Channel

ODESA, JANUARY 26th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — 24 January, one more ship with 5.55 m draft navigated through the Bystroye Channel piloted by GE Delta-Pilot, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 26 January, at the press service of Governmental Enterprise Delta-Pilot.

According to the information provided, the tug ship Alexandria-1, flagged Romania, 2400 hp, started tugging the non-self-propelled object Captain Grinenko (length 109 m, width 16.6 m, depth 8.6 m, draft 5.55 m) from the port of Izmail. River tug Nikolay Potipayev carried out towage at the stretch of the Bystroye Mouth, from there to the entrance to the sea channel the towage was carried out by the dock-tug Moguchiy. At 16:30 the tug ship Alexandria-1 finished towing Captain Grinenko through the Bystroye Channel and, having left the channel, proceeded to the Port of Constanţa, Romania.

“There is also another fact that deserves special attention. 14 pilotages were carried out in one day on January 24 — the vessels were flagged Ukraine, Russia, Malta, Turkey, Panama, Kampuchea and Romania”, added the press service.

INFORMATION: GE Delta-pilot was founded under the order of the Ministry of transport of Ukraine dated 04.02.1998. Its aim is to improve conditions of navigation protection, human life protection at sea and the environment in the territorial sea of Ukraine and in concordance with the requirements of international agreements and conventions, streamlining of the structure of marine pilot services in the north-western part of the Black Sea. The company employs 1 thousand 200 people.
