Astrakhan shipyard lays two motor vessels designed by Odesa engineers

ODESA, JANUARY 27th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Astrakhan shipyard Lotos has laid two multipurpose two-propeller dry-cargo motor vessels (deadweight 7150 tons) designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 27 January, at the press office of Marine Engineering Bureau.

According to their information, these vessels feature a big 52 meters long middle cargo hold, allowing to transport outsized cargoes on direct destinations Europe- Caspiy, which is to significantly influence an overall financial performance. These two vessels, as of today, are the largest ones in their class (Volga-Don). Their exploitation speed will be 11.5 knots. The ships’ sea endurance is 20 days. The ships will be manned with 10 people each, at that able to carry up to 12 people. There will also be a sanitary cabin and a pilot cabine.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
