ODESA, MAY 27th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has allowed US Navy Grasp to enter Odesa Port, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, 27 May at the Department for Information and Public Communications, the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ukraine.

According to the Department, the Cabinet has given preliminary entry permission to US Grasp to the territorial sea of Ukraine and the OCSP within the scope of Sea Breeze military exercise from 6 to 18 June 2011. The corresponding decision was taken at the government’s meeting on 25 May in response to a written request from the U.S. Embassy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of of Defence, to Commander of Naval Forces of Ukraine dated 22 April about the possibility of an informal visit to the US Grasp to the port of Odesa .

“The generally accepted rule of US policy is the absence of nuclear weapons aboard surface ships, attack submarines and aircraft naval aviation”, U.S. Embassy’s letter stated.

According to the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the vessel’s draft is 3 thousand 335 tons, length — 78 m, width — 15.5 m, depth — 5.2 m. The Crew on board includes 11 officers and 51 sailors.
