The sixth multipurpose ship Nefrit, designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, commissioned in China

ODESA, SEPEMBER 5th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Qingdao Hyundai Shipbuilding Co, China, Has commissioned the sixth of a series multipurpose ship Nefrit, designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed today, 5 September, at the press service of Marine Engineering Bureau.

The press service noted that “project DCV36 has a pronounced innovative character, as deadweight of more than 5 tons was first achieved in a modern dry cargo single-hold ship, 85 m long.”

DCV36 vessel was designed for marine transportation of general and bulk cargo, including 20- and 40-foot containers up to 9.5 feet (including refrigerated ones), metal, grain, timber, coal, bulk and heavy cargoes dangerous goods.

The vessel is a single-deck, single-hold, single-propeller motor ship of unlimited navigation area, with forecastle and poop, with the aft cabin living and the engine room with a double bottom and double sides in the cargo holds, featuring removable grain bulkheads with bulbous bow and transom aft ends with hatch covers, with a bow thruster.

An overall length of the vessel is 89.96 m, the estimated length — 84.89 m, width — 14.5 m, draught — 7.5 m, deadweight (for this draft) — 5 thousand 26 tons. Endurance — 25 days.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
