A student of Odesa National Mechnikov University wins the 5th place in ping-pong at the World Universiade in China

ODESA, SEPTEMBER 7th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Anna Farladanska of Odesa National Mechnikov University won the 5th place in ping-pong at the World Universiade in China, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Odesa National Mechnikov University informed today, 7 September.

According to the press service, Anna Farladanska — a student of philology and the master of sports of table tennis — was the sole representative of the South of Ukraine at the tournament. Together with her, Polina Trifonova (Donetsk) and Margaryta Pesotskaya (Kyiv) represented Ukraine.

Anna played 15 games, her rivals were tennis players from Japan, Sri Lanka, Romania, Spain, China and other countries. A total of 30 women's games involved teams of different nations.

Now A. Farladanska with her teammates is preparing for the next competitions — the European Cups which is to be held in France in October.

The next World Universiade will be held in 2013 in Kazan.

INFORMATION: The Universiade is an International multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a combination of the words University and Olympiad. The Universiade is often referred to in English as the World University Games or World Student Games; however, this latter term can also refer to competitions for sub-University grades students, as well.
