Kherson Shipyard commissions dry cargo vessel Tyumen designed in Odesa

ODESA, SEPTEMBER 26th, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Kherson Shipyard has commissioned dry cargo vessel Tyumen designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Marine Engineering Bureau informed today, 26 September.

According to the press service, 24 September, Kherson Shipbuilding Plant put into operation dry-cargo ship Tyumen (Project 005RSD06.04).

Class of Shipping Register of Ukraine KM Ice1 R2-RSN (with allowable wave height of 3% probability of 6 m) allows the ship to make international trips to the Black Sea, the Mediterranean, the Baltic Sea and a number of other destinations, completely covering the traditional commercial exploitation of the geography of combined river-sea vessels, within the designated class of constraints.

The 005RSD06.04 vessel has a double bottom and double sides and refers to the classification adopted in the Bureau, the Volga-Don Max class, their main characteristics (overall length — 137.52 m, breadth — 16.5 m) are defined by dimensions locks of the Volga-Don Canal. Due to a reasonable reduction of class to slash metal project, which allowed for the specification for a 3.6 m sediment VDSK record for the new building of river-sea class R2-RSN deadweight.

The series is constructed jointly by Kherson Shipyard (the hull) and the company Concord Shipping (completion).

Dry-cargo Tyumen is optimized for operation at draughts 3.20 — 4.19 m. Maximum deadweight of project 005RSD06.04 with a draft of 4.19 m (depth is 5.5 m, height of the coamings of cargo hatches 3.5m) at sea is 6 thousand 303 tons with a draft of 3.6 m in the river — 4 thousand 866 tons.

Ship Tyumen (building number 08 123) was laid 05 February 2008, launched 08 february 2011 and finally put into operation 24 September 11.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
