ODESA, NOVEMBER 3rd, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Lithuanian Western Baltija Shipbuilding lays a multipurpose dry-cargo barge DCB23, designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service reported, 26 October, the ceremony of laying the multipurpose dry cargo barge (deadweight 6 thousand 100 tons, project DCB23, building number NB 53) for the Community Group of Companies took place at Western Baltija Shipbuilding, Klaipeda, Lithuania.

The DCB23 barge can be used for transportation of general and bulk cargoes, including steel products, scrap metal, grain, timber, logs and lumber, building materials and paper.

The barge is a steel-deck non-self propelled vessel with a double bottom, double sides, four holds, hatch covers fitted pontoon, with the aft of Defense and the duty room. Corps barge has simplified contours, transom stern with skeg and two stabilizers.

The project is designed for a class KE R2 Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) and meets all the requirements of international conventions in force at the time of keel laying. Housing improved in accordance with the requirements of MS on the ice category Ice2.

INFORMATION: INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
