Chinese shipyard commissions the eighth multipurpose dry-cargo vessel Serdolik designed in Odesa

ODESA, DECEMBER 21st, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Qingdao Hyundai Shipbuilding Co, China, has commissioned the eighth multipurpose dry-cargo vessel Serdolik designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed today, 21 December, at the press service of the company.

According to the press service, yesterday, December 20, shipyard Qingdao Hyundai Shipbuilding Co. (Qingdao, China) conducted a ceremonial lowering of the eighth multi-purpose cargo vessel Serdolik, Project DCV36, (building No QHS—308).

The Customer of the series of vessels DCV36 — holding VBTH (part of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding) consolidating a number of Russian shipping companies (North-Western Shipping Company, Volga Shipping, WF Tanker, etc.), stevedoring and shipping companies (Neva Shipyard, Oka Shipyard, Borremflot).

In contrast to bulk carriers, built for the holding before and the ones built now under the projects RSD44 RSD49, the DCV36 is a ship of unlimited navigation area with appropriate safety margins, the thickness of the hull and power relations of the main engines.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
