Oka Shipyard lays the third Volga-Don Max tanker RST27 designed in Odesa

ODESA, DECEMBER 27, 2011, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Oka Shipyard has laid the third Volga-Don Max tanker RST27 designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed about it today, at the press service of Marine Engineering Bureau.

The press service reported that the contours of the vessel of the new project are the product of research conducted in 2010, they were created using the methods of computational fluid mechanics (CFD modelling).

The RST27 ship meets the standards of the Volga-Don Canal and the Volga-Baltic Route. The overall length is 140.85 m, width — 16,6 m, draught — 6 m.

The vessel was designed to carry crude oil and petroleum products with no limit on flashpoint.

All in all the project RST27 comprises fifteen vessels of the kind.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
