Oka Shipyard lays the fourth RST27 Volga-Don Max ship designed in Odesa

ODESA, FEBRUARY 1st, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Oka Shipyard, Russia, has laid the fourth RST27 Volga-Don Max ship designed by Marine Engineering Bureau, Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Marine Engineering Bureau informed today, 1 February.

According to the press service, 20 January, 2012 Oka shipyard laid the keel of the fourth RST27 Volga-Don Max tanker, deadweight at sea/river 6980/5378 tons.

The customer is VF Tanker Shipping Company (part of VBTH Holding).

“The shape of the ship hull is the result of the research conducted in 2010, it was created using the methods of computational fluid mechanics (CFD modelling).

In comparison with other Bureau’s projects the RST27 tanker has enhanced river function, increased by 700 tons deadweight in the river (when compared to the Armada), while maintaining high capacity of cargo tanks and high-strength body.

The RST27 meets the Volga-Don Canal measure requirements and the Volga-Baltic Route. Her overall length is 140.85 m, width — 16,6 m, depth — 6 m.

INFORMATION: OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau was registered on March, 23rd, 1995 in Odesa, Ukraine. It was founded by a group of scientists of the Shipbuilding Department, Odesa National Maritime University. OJSC Marine Engineering Bureau works out pre-contract classification projects, projects of “conversion”, upgrade and renewal of sea vessels for internal and mixed journeys. They also prepare projects for increasing carrying and container capacities of ships and other related work.
