ODESA, MARCH 2nd, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Ukraine HE Mr Chuah Teong Ban has stated 2012 has become a special year in the relations between Malaysia and Ukraine, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The envoy stated today, 2 March, during a press conference in Odesa.

“This year has become special for Malaysia and Ukraine. This year, we celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations between our countries. The beginning of this relationship began as far back as in 1992. And since then, the level of these relationships has increased. And now we are already working at the presidential level and at the level of prime ministers. In 2002, when President Kuchma was in office, we decided to base the Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia , — said ambassador.

“In 2002, Malaysian Prime Minister was very impressed with the potential of Ukraine. And since then, Malaysia has seen Ukraine as a strategic partner as the location of our country itself is very strategic — between Asia and Europe. Most of all, Malaysia is interested in Ukrainian technologies. Of particular interest are the following industries: space engineering, military vehicles, aircraft. And in Ukraine there are many people who think creatively, a lot of good scientists. We believe that our cooperation in these areas can be very rewarding”, he said.
