A fight for WBO Champion’s title to be held in Odesa 21 July

ODESA, JULY 10th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― A fight for WBO Champion’s title will be held in Odesa 21 July, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The organizers of the fight informed the agency today, 10 July.

According to K2 Promotions representatives (the company is the organizer of the battle), 21 July, 2012 Odesa Palace of Sports will be hosting a large-scale boxing tournament. The main event of the evening will be a duel between Vyacheslav ‘Steel Power’ Uzelkov and the Swiss boxer Mohamed Belkacem. At stake is the vacant WBO Intercontinental champion at light heavyweight.

In the second title fight in the evening World Champion versions of WBC, IBO and IBF, Alexander ‘Lightning’ Spirko will dispute the European WBO junior title of the middleweight champion in the fight against Javier Garcia Roche from Spain.

INFORMATION: 33-year-old Vyacheslav Uzelkov from Vinnytsia debuted on the professional boxing in 2004. In 2007, he won the title of Intercontinental Champion, WBA Light Heavyweight Champion. His last time out in the ring was 12 May this year in Brovary, winning on points with Ravshanbek Jabbarov, Uzbekistan (10-3, 5 KO).

33-year-old Swiss boxer Mohamed Belkacem Arab descent was born in Algeria and was a member of the National Kickboxing team. Since 2001 he lives and trains in Switzerland. Belkacem made his debut in professional boxing in February 2004. Over 8 years of boxing career had 26 fights, 20 of them wins (9 KO), 5 — and lost one — brought in a draw. In 2007 Switzerland became a champion at light heavyweight. His last fight Belkacem held in April this year in France, losing on points to one of the best light heavyweight in Europe — Najib Mohammed. Meeting with Swiss Uzelkov will become the fourth attempt to win an international title.
