Olga Kharlan of Mykolaiv wins the bronze at the Olympics in London

ODESA, AUGUST 2nd, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Sabre fencer of Mykolaiv Olga Kharlan has won the bronze medal at the Olympics in London, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The agency has been informed today, 2 August, at the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.

According to the press service, the champion of Beijing Olympics in the team competition Olga Kharlan, despite the fact that she lost in favour of the Russian Sofia Velikaya 12:15, found the strength to fight for the bronze and beat the two times Olympic champion Mariel Zagunis from America, 15:10 .

“Our athlete began the fight for a medal rather restrained, the first half of the battle the Ukrainian was a catch-up. But, having calmed down, we saw a balanced, thoughtful, and as a result of fencing ― the fourth bronze in the asset Ukrainian national team”, the press service added.

President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka congratulated Olga on getting the award, noting her strong desire to prove that hard work brings rewards.
