An athlete of Odesa wins the gold at the London Paralympics

ODESA, SEPTEMBER 5th, 2012, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Ruslan Katyshev of Odesa has won the gold medal at the Paralympic Games in London, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Department for Sports, Odesa Regional State Administration, reported today, 5 September.

According to the Office, yesterday, 4 September, in competitions of the XIV Paralympic Games in London (UK) Master of Sports of Ukraine Athletics Katyshev Ruslan won the gold medal in the long jump with a score of 6.46 m in the nosology ‘totally blind’. Personal trainer athlete ― Honored coach of Ukraine Tetiana Orlova.

Ruslan attends specialized junior school of Paralympic reserve of the Odesa Regional Centre for Physical Culture and Sports of the Disabled ‘Invasport’. The Paralympic athlete was awarded a scholarship by the Governor for quality training for the Paralympic Games, they noted in the Office.

INFORMATION: The Paralympic Games is a major international multi-sport event, involving athletes with a range of physical and intellectual disabilities, including mobility disabilities, amputations, blindness, and cerebral palsy. There are Winter and Summer Paralympic Games, which since the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul, South Korea, are held immediately following the respective Olympic Games. All Paralympic Games are governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
