The dry-cargo ship with 5 thousand tons of metal of stranded in Kahovka water basin

KHERSON, JULY, 11TH, 2008, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The dry-cargo ship with metal «Stepan Gorshkov» (a flag of Ukraine, port of a registration — Kherson, cargo — more than 5 thousand tons of steel rolls) with the Ukrainian crew (13 persons) has stranded on July, 9th at 11 30 PM in Kahovka water basin near the Belenkoe settlement of the Zaporozhye region, IA “Context-Prichernomorie” correspondent reports.

The agency was informed about this by the press-service of the Ministry of Emergency Measures and protection of the population against consequences of Chernobyl accident.

The dry-cargo ship sailed from port of Zaporozhye to port Kherson.

There are no holes in the hull, no threat to a life of the crew and no environmental contamination.

The message on the incident was received by MEM at 11:15 on July, 10th.

Steam-ship «Voznesk» and towing steam-ship «Portovik-2» are sent for to help.

Works on removal of the dry-cargo ship from a bank and its drawing on a waterway proceed. Length of a vessel – 131.6 m, width – 16.5 m, draft – 3.5 m, displacement — 6000 tons.
