ODESA, FEBRUARY 4th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ―Students’ and young scientists’ scientific works contest dedicated to the 130th Anniversary of the Greek biologist and physician George Papanikolaou announced in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Odesa Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture reported today, 4 February.

According to the information, the contest is held in honour of the great explorer, a prominent representative of the medical science of the XX century, the inventor of the “Pap-Test” ― the method of early cancer diagnosis, the founder of Medical Cytology, Greek biologist and physician George Papanikolaou. The competition is held with the assistance of the Odesa State Medical University, Odesa National Mechnikov University and Odesa City Council Healthcare Department.

Science students, graduate students, interns, doctors, young scientists and researchers under the age of 35 engaged in research work related to the development and implementation of cancer early diagnosis and treatment methods who have achieved significant results in this field.

One research project will be awarded in three contest categories, and its author will receive: contest diploma; a EUR 10 silver coin, issued by the Bank of Greece in September 2012 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of George Papanikolaou; UAH 1 thousand monetary prize.
