ODESA, JUNE 19th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine John Tefft has stated that many famous Americans are native of Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Ambassador noted yesterday, 18 June, at the opening of a memorial plaque on the building of the former US consulate in Odesa.

“It is a historic moment. And if you know the history, many famous Americans are native of Odesa or have relatives in Odesa. For example, the relatives of the famous musician Bob Dylan are from Odesa,” Mr Tefft noted.

The United States Ambassador expressed the view that this plaque should be included in the route for American tourists.

“I want American tourists know the US Consulate was located in the house which is next to the world famous Opera House,” he added.
