ODESA, SEPTEMBER 4th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Odesa Mayor Oleksiy Kostusev expects Odesa and Baku to become sister cities, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Oleksiy Kostusev stated yesterday, 3 September, during the ceremony of laying the first stone of the park on the 4th station of Bolshoy Fountain.

“Odesa and Istanbul have been sister cities for 16 years, and now we are actively negotiating to conclude a sister-city relationships with the city of Baku,” Odesa Mayor noted.

In turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Eynulla Madatli said: “The issue of cooperation of Odesa and Baku has been raised ― the Embassy and the leadership of the mayor’s office of Baku has considered the matter. I think that we will become the partner cities soon. We have areas where we can work together productively.”
