ODESA, SEPTEMBER 27th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ¬― European Combat Sambo Championship among men, youth and juniors will be held 28 September in Odesa, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.
The president of the European Combat Sambo Federation, the President of Combat Sambo Federation of Ukraine Elkhan Veliyev noted today, 27 September, during the press conference.
According to Mr Veliyev, European Combat Sambo Championship among men, youth and juniors will be held for the first time 28 September in Odesa. The purpose of this competition is a promotion of martial arts among young people through a healthy lifestyle.
In organizers opinion, the championship should strengthen the friendly relations between the athletes of the international federations of European countries and popularize Combat Sambo as a universal system of martial arts.
“Originally the tournament had to be held in Cyprus, but because of the crisis Cypriots refused to hold it, so the European Federation of Combat Sambo was forced to change the venue of the Championship. Among all cities expressed a desire to host the competition, Odesa was selected at once. The city is famous for serious athletes, high-quality preparing. In addition, such colour and hospitality does not exist in any other city of Ukraine,” Mr Veliev noted.
“About 200 participants from 14 countries will gather to compete for the title of the strongest fighter in Europe: Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, France and the CIS countries. Including 25 athletes from Odesa,” he added.
