ODESA, OCTOBER 21st, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― The Head of the EU Mission in the Republic of Moldova Pirkko Tapiola has stated that the role of EUBAM is important for the European integration of Ukraine and Moldova, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Tapiola announced on Friday, 18 October, during the press conference on the results of the 21st of the EUBAM Advisory Board Meeting.

“The mission is a good player for the meetings in the 5+2 format. The mission has brought a lot of results and in the resolution of the Transnistrian issue... As both Ukraine and Moldova came to grips with European integration issue, in this respect, the Mission plays a very important role. And, of course, it is important in the context of the simplification of the visa regime. As for the decision of migration control, we were able to make, on the one hand, effective, but on the other, not to cause inconvenience to the crossing of Moldovan border,” Pirkko Tapiola mentioned. “If we are talking about the next year, it is important to promote the free trade zone, to export goods safely to Moldova. And this is the main direction of our activities.”
