ODESA, NOVEMBER 4th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Member of Parliament, the Chairman of the Sub-committee on social protection of servicemen, their families, and military pensioners of the Committee on National Security and Defence Sergiy Grynevetskiy considers that conferences of the Danube region countries should be carried out regularly, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Grynevetskiy noted it 31 October during the official opening of the international business forum “Danube synergy”.

“As the head of the Ukrainian delegation I had the opportunity to take part in the first conference of parliamentarians of the Danube region countries in the German city of Ulm, which was devoted to the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

Perhaps the most important outcome of the conference was that it was decided to hold such conferences regularly. This is extremely important because, as it was rightly observed by the European Commission’s director-general for regional policy Walter Deffaa, the executive authority is not enough for the successful implementation of the Strategy, but also needed the support of the national parliaments, local governments, and the public. It is clearly enough, considering the fact that a number of projects, including projects in the shipping industry, require political support and budget,” the politician noted.

“Let us not forget that globalization increases the competition between the various transport routes. In this competition, the winner is the one who can offer better port services, high speed delivery of goods and their safety,” he added.
