MYKOLAIV, NOVEMBER 27th, 2013, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE ― Ukrainian sabre fencer Olga Kharlan has been recognized as the best sabre fencer in the world in 2013, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.
The press service of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine noted today, 27 November.
According to the information, the award will be presented to her 29 November in Paris, where a Congress of the International Fencing Federation, dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the organization, will be held.
It was recalled that in August at the world championships in fencing Ukrainian for the first time in her career Olga Kharlan won the “gold” in the individual competition and won the title of world champion in team performance. In addition, at the European Championships she won the individual championship and together with her team won «silver”.
It is to be noted that Olga Kharlan is an absolute record holder in the category of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine “The best athlete of the month”. Honorary title with it, O. Kharlan got honorary title commemorative statuette, diploma and a cash prize of NOC 6 times.
Besides Olga Kharlan awards of FIE were handed to Ana Maria Branza (Romania) and Ruben Limardo Gascony (Venezuela), foil fencers Arianna Erriho (Italy) and Andrea Cassar (Italy) and Veniamin Reshetnikov sabre fencer from Russia.
