ODESA, JULY 18th, 2014, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – Chairman of the Odesa Regional State Administration Igor Palitsa has met with a delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The meeting was held today, July 18, at the Odesa Regional State Administration.

The receiving side was also represented by: Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov, first deputy chairman of the Odesa Regional Council Petro Hlytsov, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Odesa Konstantin Rzhepishevsky, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Odesa Regional State Administration Evgenia Volynets.

The delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities arrived to Odessa is consisted of: the President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe Herwig Van Staa, President of the Chamber, Vice President of the Bureau of the Congress Jean-Claude Frech (France), President of the Chamber, Vice President of the Bureau of the Congress Natalia Romanova (Ukraine), the representative of the President of the Independent and liberal Democrat group (ILDG), auditor-Rapporteur on local democracy in Ukraine Mark Raymond Marcel Cools and other members of the delegation.

The purpose of the visit is to exchange views with the Ukrainian political representatives on the latest developments on the political situation in the country, as well as on decentralization in the light of the European Charter of Local Self-Government.

July 17 high-level meetings were held in Kyiv with the government. Today, July 18, the delegation visited Odesa.
