ODESA, JULY 15th, 2014, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE – the Defence Attaché at the French Embassy in Ukraine Colonel Jerome Mallar has visited Odesa Military Academy as part of the International Military Cooperation, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Regional media centre of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine noted today, 15 July.

According to the information, the Defence Attaché at the French Embassy in Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel J. Mallar visited Odesa Military Academy in the framework of international military cooperation. On-campus officer met with the leadership of the Military Academy, representatives of the Academy Naval Forces and Odesa National Maritime Academy.

Parties focused on the further development of bilateral cooperation in the military sphere. In particular, Colonel J. Mallar said that the defence department of France considered the opportunity for further training of a certain number of cadets of the Nakhimov Navy on the basis of their educational institutions and ships for a period of 1 month to 3 years. Office of the Defence also informed the leadership of the two Ukrainian military schools, the French side has the opportunity to send in Odesa specialist who as a teacher could join the training process for the study of the future Ukrainian officers of the French language.

Also, during the negotiations, the Acting Chief of the Military Academy and the Nakhimov Naval Academy Major General Oleg Gulyak and Captain 1st Rank Rostislav Sharov told about the history and the present stage of development of the Ukrainian military schools.

During the meeting it was also brought to a focus on research activities and improving the educational process in the light of events that occur in the east of the country.

In addition, the rector of the Odesa National Maritime Academy Mikhail Miyusov informed attaches to establish on the basis of faculty ONMA naval forces, which should become operational since September 1 of the current year.

After the customary exchange of souvenirs Colonel J. Mallar acquainted with the training facilities of the Military Academy.
