Conflict tension decreased in Gagauzia since Romania’s new President coming to power
00:53 / 18.03.2015

ODESSA, MARCH 18th, 2015, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — MP, President of the Association of Bulgarians in Ukraine Anton Kisse believes that with the advent of the new Romanian President Klaus Werner Johannis the conflict tension in Gagauzia, based on fear of the local population of Moldova's accession to Romania, decreased, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

Mr Kisse noted today, March 18, in an interview with the agency, commenting on the political situation in the Lower Danube region in the light of recent statements by the presidents of Romania and Ukraine.

“With the coming to power of the new president of Romania Klaus Werner Johannis, the tension in Gagauzia decreased. Gagauzia held a referendum and one of the main problems that all scared was the fear that Moldova can be joined to Romania… The majority of residents of Gagauzia do not take such a step. But I think that with the advent of the new president of Romania this question has been left to history. The extreme radicals in any country create sufficiently large voltage, both in domestic and foreign policy of any state,” he said.
