ODESSA, JUNE 8th, 2015, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — The Delegation of the Odessa Regional Council within the framework of its working visit to Germany, has held a series of meetings on the exchange of experiences in the field of energy efficiency and conservation, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The press service of Odessa Regional Council noted today, June 8.

In the framework of its working visit on energy efficiency with the participation of deputies of the regional council Yuri Maslov a series of meetings at the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the German Energy Agency DENA were held.

The Deputy Head of the Department for International Energy Policy Joerg Kirsch issued with a presentation on the activities of the Ministry. The experience of the German partners is very important today, because the issues of energy efficiency and conservation in the region are becoming more relevant. In particular, the head of the German Energy Agency Ulrich Benterbusch discussed Ukraine’s new energy policy, the concept of energy efficiency plan for the region. It was about the need to construct on the basis of such an agency in the Odessa region such functional model that could be the basis for the implementation of energy conservation projects throughout the region.

As noted by Yuri Maslov, “At the time of signing a memorandum of cooperation in the framework of this project there were some problems. But today the situation in Ukraine has changed significantly: a number of regulatory instruments that will partially regulate energy efficiency.”

Mr. Benterbusch noted that for positive result in this area is necessary to form the local expertise, gain experience and acquire knowledge. Of course, it is necessary to take into account the socio-economic situation, the solvency of the citizens, and the possibilities of the region’s budget. Useful could be successfully implemented a pilot project that will further disseminate this experience.
