ODESSA, NOVEMBER 17th, 2015, CONTEXT-PRICHERNOMORIE — Cargo turn-over of the port of Odessa for the first 9 months of 2015 amounted to 19 million tons, which is 7.5% more than the same period in 2014, Context-Prichernomorie correspondent reports.

The Chief of the Administration of the Odessa Port Mikhail Sokolov noted today, November 17, during a press conference on the results of the company for 9 months 2015.

According to Mr Sokolov, the turnover for the first three quarters of 2015 amounted to 19 million tons, which is 7.5% more than the same period in 2014.

Including: liquid cargo — 2.8 million tons (a reduction of 16.5%); dry cargo — 16.2 million tons (up 13.2%); containers — 271 thousand 400 NTU (a decrease of 12.5%); metals — 4.7 million tons (up 38%); bulk grain — 6.0 million tons (up 43%); ore — 0.4 million tons.

The head of the Port Authority said that “the port of Odessa is increasing volumes of environmentally friendly goods”.

He also noted that in the construction of grain terminals is used the latest technology and equipment of German and Spanish production and purchasing company aspiration system can reduce dust formation in the grain handling to practically zero. This, according to M. Sokolov makes grain cargo favorable for residents of the city, where the port area closely adjacent to the residential areas.
