ODESSA, JUNE 22, 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — the Delegation of the U.S. Department of energy visited SE «Sea Commercial Port «Yuzhny», the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

Agency was informed today, 22 June, by the press service of the port.

According to the press service, visit of the delegation of the U.S. Department of energy to SE «SCP «Yuzhny» took place on 21 June as part of a joint project of international technical assistance «to Detect and deter nuclear smuggling» at the checkpoint through the state border «SCP «Yuzhny».

For a foreign delegation was organized a working visit in the territory of the enterprise with the aim of familiarizing with its infrastructure, the preliminary determination of the size, configuration and potential placement of the elements of the automated control over the movement of radioactive substances and nuclear materials of type «TSA».

Representatives of the US Department of Energy, National Laboratories in the USA «ORNL's» and «LANL», companies «AECOM Сompany», «NorthStar» and «Double UGI Global Inc.» They acquainted with the work of checkpoints (Pass Office) №10 and №15 of the enterprise and also visited the exhibition park (berth №9).

During the meeting the parties discussed issues of potential locations for elements of the automated control systems such as «TSA» of imported and exported goods to the State Enterprise «Sea Commercial Port «Yuzhny». Also on these areas experts conducted a series of measurements of natural background radiation with the aim of the most fine-tuning for a complex, which is planned to install.

Holding meeting involves initiating further development of a common mechanism for the installation and modernization of automated control systems for the transportation of radioactive substances and nuclear materials in the SE «SCP «Yuzhny».
