Odessa, 12 AUGUST 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie -- Chairman of the Board of PJSC «Ukrzaliznytsia» Wojciech Balczun together with members of the Board, the Directors of the directions and the Heads of departments arrived on a working visit to the regional branch «Odessa railroad», the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

According to the press center, today, August 12, the Chairman of the Board of «Ukrainian Railways» W. Balczun and other representatives of the leadership of «UZ» carried out a working visit to the regional branch of the «Odessa railroad».

W. Balczun and members of the Board of PJSC «Ukrzaliznytsia» Marek Zalesny and Ireneusz Wasilewski told the staff and partners of the regional branch about plans for upgrading the fleet of freight wagons, locomotives, electrification trends, new approaches to the organization of work, etc.

«Our main goal is to continue the transformation of the «Ukrainian Railways» in a modern, efficient, competitive company. There are several key areas that are critical to our mission. This investment is expected by the railroad and society in rolling stock and infrastructure, informatization of society, the consolidation and transformation of the company. And also need to address issues that were not solved, such as the fight against corruption. We are losing huge money due to corruption. We want to change this situation», — said W. Balczun.

«We see a significant increase in traffic from the Odessa region which is strategically important for the «Ukrzaliznytsya» and Ukraine. We will take this into account, developing a strategy for infrastructure investment», — noted Chairman of the Board.

Among the planned projects he named the modernization of locomotives for credit funds of the German KfW Bank, the purchase of new freight cars and electrification of lines.

W. Balczun noted that such meetings with the teams are important for the preparation of the company's strategic development decisions.

Also during the visit to the regional branch, the leadership of «Ukrzaliznytsia» will visit the sea ports, will inspect the work of the railway objects of a station complex «Odessa-Main», railcar depot «Odessa-Zastava-1», the terminal of the branch «Center of transport service «Liski» and others.
