NIKOLAEV, 6 SEPTEMBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — In January-August total turnover of public and private stevedoring companies operating in the territory of Nikolaev seaport amounted to 14 million 247.87 thousand tons or 99.8% from the same period last year, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, September 6, in a press-service of the SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority».

The press service reported that, according to operative data, the total turnover at the port in 8 months was 14 million 247.87 thousand tons or 99.8% compared to January-August 2015, when cargo turnover reached 14 million 281.79 thousand tons.

Liquid cargo during this period in the port handled 1 million 559.82 thousand tons (131.4% in January-August 2015); bulk dry cargo — 10 million 359.53 thousand tons (97.6%); unitized cargo — 2 million 328.52 thousand tons (93.9%).

REFERENCE: Nikolaev Sea Port is located on the left bank of the bend of Yuzhny Bug river, 35 kilometers upstream from where the river flows into the Dnieper estuary. The port is connected with the sea Bug-Dnieper Limansky Channel (BDLC), passing through the Dnieper-Bug estuary and river Yuzhny Bug. It begins near the island Berezan and stretches for 44 miles to the port of Nikolaev. The channel consists of 13 tribes, 6 of them are on the Dnieper estuary, the other on the river Yuzhny Bug. The channel width of 100 m, depth — 11.2 m. The port is navigable all year round.
