Odessa, 6 SEPTEMBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie -- In January-August 2016 total turnover of public and private stevedoring companies operating in the territory of the Odessa seaport, was 16 million 173.21 thousand tons, or 98% from the same period last year, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, September 6, in a press-service of the SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority».

The press service reported that, according to operative data, the total turnover of the Odessa port in January-August amounted to 16 million 173.21 thousand tons, which is 2% less than in the first 8 months of 2015, when the turnover reached 16 million 507.16 thousand tons.

Liquid cargo handled 1 million 525.55 thousand tons (59.7% up from January to August 2015); .. bulk dry cargo — 5 million 946.43 thousand tons (93.2%, the largest share — grain — 5 million 193.13 thousand tons); unitized cargo — 8 million 701.23 thousand tons (114.9%).

REFERENCE: Odessa sea port is located in the south-western part of the Odessa Bay artificially formed an area of 141 hectares. The port serves vessels up to 330 m and a draft of up to 13 m, total length of the mooring line more than 9 km. Capacities of the enterprise allow to process annually more than 21 million tons of dry and 25 million tons of liquid bulk cargo and container terminals are designed for an overload of more than 900 thousand TEU. Passenger complex is able to cater for up to 4 million tourists per year.
