Odessa, 9 SEPTEMBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — For the first time since the crisis of falling volumes of container cargo transshipment in the ports of Ukraine in 2009, growth in container port of Odessa has exceeded 30%, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, on September 9, by the press service of the Odessa Sea Port Authority.

Thus, according to the service economy of the SE «USPA», in January-August 2016 at the berths of the port are overloaded 316 thousand 809 TEU, up 76 thousand 242 TEU, or 31.7% higher than in eight months of last year.

The Odessa Port Authority a significant increase in container handling to explain the influence of several factors.

First, given the result of the joint efforts of the USPA, companies, terminal operators and state regulatory authorities on the introduction of modern processing standard container fleet, the normalization of the situation with the timing of customs clearance at the checkpoints and the implementation of provisions of the Resolution of Cabinet of Ministers №491 from 07.07.2015 on the decentralization of control procedures in ports.

Secondly, as of today, it is the only domestic Odessa port, where is containerships ocean container service.

Third, increased volume of delivery of empty containers to ensure timely removal of export goods.

And fourth, increased overall Ukrainian export of goods transported in containers (sunflower oil, grains, etc.).

The press service reminded that today the transshipment of containerized cargo in the port of Odessa is conducted in two specialized terminals — berths Quarantine pier No. 2,1-K, 2-K, and the terminal No. 42 Khlebnaya harbour. The first operates with German company «HPC Ukraina», the second — LLC «Brooklyn-Kiev port», one of the founders of which is the French company CMA CGM.
