Odessa, 20 SEPTEMBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has posted on its website announcement of the tender for purchase of new trolleybuses for Odessa, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, September 20, in the Department of Information of the Odessa City Council.

According to the announcement posted on the website of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, tender for the purchase of new trolleybuses in Odessa will be completed on 7 November 2016. According to the contest it will buy 45 trolleybuses with a fully low floor totaling 8 million euro. This will replace the nearly half of the morally and physically outdated trolleybuses city park with a new, eco-friendly rolling stock.

The Department reminded that in the fall of 2015 CE «Odesgorelektrotrans» signed a loan agreement with the EBRD and the bank granted a loan to the company for a period of twelve years.

New low-floor trolleybuses will enable greatly increase the availability of public transport, especially for the elderly, people with children and people with disabilities. Their energy efficiency is 25% higher than the current existing structure. In addition, the project will contribute to the reform of the urban transport sector, in particular the optimization of the route network and the transparency of tenders for the provision of routes to private sector enterprises. It will also allow CE «Odesgorelektrotrans» to provide significant energy savings and reduce operating costs associated with the management of public transport.
