KHERSON, 05 OCTOBER 2016, CONTEXT-Prichernomorie — In January-September the total turnover of stevedoring companies operating on the territory of Kherson sea port amounted to 2 million 686,82 thousand tons, the correspondent of IA «Context-Prichernomorie» reports.

It was reported to the agency today, October 05, in the press-service of the SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority».

In a press-service reported that according to operational data, the total cargo turnover at the port for 9 months has reached 2 million 686,82 thousand tons, which amounted to 96.5% compared to January-September 2015, when the turnover amounted to 2 million 784,45 thousand tons.

Liquid cargoes during this period, the port handled 109,24 thousand tons (193.9% compared to the figure of January-September 2015); bulk dry cargo — 2 million 94,74 thousand tons (107,3%); unitized cargo — 482,84 thousand tons (62,2%).

REFERENCE: Kherson sea port was founded in 1778 along with a shipyard and a fortress which had become a base for future black sea fleet. In 1901, after 30 years associated with dredging operations, the port opened again, and Kherson was one of the most important ports exporting Ukrainian grain.

The port is located on the right Bank of the Dnieper river, 15 kilometers off the estuary. Navigation in port lasts all year round.
